Elegant Floor Transformations

Mr. Sandman brought us a dream... hardwood floor!

My wife and I recently purchased a home which was in need of new flooring. Our deep desire was to replace the old carpet/laminate/etc. with real hardwood. We wanted a classic look. We contacted Mr. Sandman (Josh) based on a recommendation and were not disappointed!

The recommendation to call Josh came from a flooring outlet shop in town (UFO Flooring on Velp). When one professional confidently recommends another - that's usually a good sign.

From the start, Josh was great to work with. He met us at our home and took the time to walk through it, understand what we were looking for, and answer all the questions we had. He explained the pros/cons of different materials, talked about installation methods, and offered suggestions to help us stay within our budget. He really cared that we were happy not just with the finished product, but also with the experience of working together. I was very impressed with his knowledge of the little things, his attention to detail and the fact that he takes such pride in his work.

I could stop now and it would still be a good review. However, the thing that really put Josh over the top was his customer service. When picking a contractor, sometimes you're lucky just to get someone who does good work OR is friendly to work with - Josh exceled in both areas. He's one of the nicest and friendliest guys you'll ever meet. The best way I can describe it is - if you're throwing a neighborhood BBQ - you're absolutely inviting Josh to stop by!

He and his crew did great work, and I'm sure it will last a long time. But when the day finally comes to have it refinished - there's no one else we would call!

All hail The Sandman!

We decided to have our downstairs floors and stairs refinished and called Josh for an estimate. He patiently explained the entire process and gave us a fair price, making sure to remain within our limited budget. My wife and I decided to pull up the old carpet ourselves to save some money, and in the weeks leading up to our appointment with Josh, we had a million questions and pestered him constantly. Rather than get annoyed at us, Josh made time in his very busy schedule (he's booked up months in advance) to actually stop by our house on FOUR separate occasions to guide us through the process and offer us some suggestions. Whenever we texted him (which was a lot), he responded within an hour. He went far beyond the call of duty and was always affable, cheery, and patient.

The day finally arrived and Josh and his super professional crew arrived right on time and immediately began working. To stay out of his way, my wife and I booked an air b&b out of town. While we were gone, Josh texted us photos of his progress, and with each picture he sent we grew more excited about the transformation that was occurring in our house! He also worked into the evening to ensure that he'd be done by the time we got home.

When we arrived home, we found that the Sandman's work exceeded our expectations. Our 100+ year old floor looked almost new (while still retaining the character of a 100+ year old floor!). There were several nasty looking holes in the original floor that required patches, and I'd challenge anyone to look at our floor and see where these patches were done. The work was seamless!

We would wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend the Sandman for any flooring work you have. Josh obviously has a great passion for his work, and it shows in both his craftsmanship and work ethic.

We have only one problem: the floor downstairs looks so good, now we want to hire Josh to do the top floor, too!
